Software update attempt when non-admin user is logged in

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

The package manager launches itself and prompts the users to choose if they want to update the packages reported. However, when the user says yes (and in my case, I was also prompted that some new packages also need to be installed for upgrade), the update manager fails/crashes citing insufficient privileges.
I think the manager should ask for either the root password or the user's password and sudo the installation. Otherwise this is a bug. (There is no point in prompting a non-root user to upgrade the software packages and then crash after he/she okays it).

By the way, this is Ubuntu 9.10 beta that I just installed.
