Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

I'm used to run aptitude in yakuake from my running KDE session. When KDM is updated, it kills the active session as KDM and all running sessions are shut down because of the update. This has been differently in the past (I'm using karmic with all packages up to date).

I can confirm this issue has existed eversince upgrade from 4.2.85 to latest. Worked fine in 4.2.85 but not in any revisions of 4.2.96.

Changed in kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Critical
status: New → Confirmed

Yes, this should really be treated as critical as it can cause a broken system (as aptitude is killed right in an updated process too).

Already fixed in fact. After upgrading to the fixed packages, all subsequent kdm upgrades should not exhibit this symptom. The problem was a buggy pre-install script. (Note that you will receive this bug while upgrading to the fixed packages)
