Check your Xorg log for complaints about GLX. In my case a package update removed the symbolic link from libglx.so to libglx.so.185.18.36 in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions. Restoring this link fixed the problem.

I didn't experience this at all, interesting. I just checked and I do not have the symbolic link either, and still I cannot reproduce this problem. Any extra info would be great. Thanks!

Note: If it is still an issue, could a be a problem with something other than KDE by chance?

Hello,

I run kubuntu karmic 9.10 on x86 64 and have the same problem sometimes.

i use opengl and trilinar effects for the plasma desktop, use a nvidia GeForce 9400 GT, NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 185.18.36 Fri Aug 14 17:35:21 PDT 2009

It can be reproducible easily when you enable this option and try to disable and renabled the effects. Sometimes it will crash.

I have a few error in log too but i don't know if are related.
