2008-10-30 01:50:58 Jonathan Thomas None: statusexplanation It's possible that the Task Manager got removed from the panel accidentally. If you go to the Add Widgets list and drag that to the very edge of your panel, does that fix things?

2008-10-30 11:39:16 Owen Tuz description No package hint given because I'm not sure, but my guess would be that the problem is either in kdebase-plasma or kdeplasma-addons. I'm using Kubuntu 8.10 beta with all the latest updates and whatnot. A (seemingly) unrelated attempt to start wineconsole with incorrect syntax seems to have been the trigger for something - the display dissolved into colours for a bit, and now my panel won't fit plasmoids properly - while the icons appear the usual size, the space they take up is huge, and can't be resized. For instance, the clock takes up almost the entire panel by itself, meaning I have no room for anything else if I want it. The system tray and task managers have a similar effect. I've tried uninstalling the entire kubuntu-desktop package and reinstalling it, but the only effect this has had is to disappear the desktop folder view... I don't know what to give you as technical info, but ask and ye shall receive - Thanks, Owen No package hint given because I'm not sure, but my guess would be that the problem is either in kdebase-plasma or kdeplasma-addons. I don't know what to give you as technical info, but ask and ye shall receive - Thanks, Owen Update: The display disruption which started it all has been continuing - it seems to be linked to use of the terminal in some way. It's making KDE hard to use for any length of time, and this combined with some problems with Ubuntu Studio have persuaded me to change to Gnome. If all goes well with that I may remove KDE completely - I don't know if it's worth leaving this here (I know one other person on the internet had the same problem, but that's all I could find) or removing it. Not the most helpful approach, I know, but if my display is going to dissolve into colours regularly I can't get any work done on here - I tried to take a screenshot with KSnapshot but it either disappears completely or worsens so I can't see the program at all.
