Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-kde4

Yesterday KDE 4.1 Beta 2 packages were released, and once upgraded, you lose the Folder View plasmoid completely (it's not in the plasmoid list) and several others won't function when added to your desktop (for example, the Show Desktop plasmoid).

I am convinced this is a packaging problem, as I use SVN on a live image and before, during, and after Beta 2 was released these things worked fine and still work now.

Steps to reproduce (Folder View)
1.) Have Folder View on your desktop prior to upgrading.
2.) Upgrade from KDE 4.1 Beta 1 to KDE 4.1 Beta 2.
3.) Log out and back in or reboot.
4.) The folder view applet will be on your desktop, but will be an "unknown applet".
5.) If you remove it, and try to add it back, it's not on the plasmoid list when you rightclick the desktop to add an applet.
6.) If you didn't have the Folder View applet prior to updating, you won't be able to access it at all.

Steps to reproduce (Show Desktop)
1.) Rightclick on the panel and choose to add an applet
2.) Choose to add "Show Desktop".
3.) Show Desktop will not appear but a space where it's supposed to be will appear.
4.) This applet is also an "Unknown Applet".

Deleting your .kde and .kde4 will not fix this, also reinstalling KDE4 will not fix this either.

Everyone that updates to KDE4.1 Beta 2 has these problems, and there are other things missing as well, as evidenced here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5260289#post5260289

I understand that the announcement said not to report bugs here about KDE4.1 Beta 2, but this is a packaging problem or compile problem specific to Ubuntu as this all works fine in SVN before, during, and after release of Beta 2.

This seems to be a dependency issue. To resolve the problems I mentioned above, I had to install:

kdebase-plasma-kde4
kdeplasmoids

I think kdebase should depend on these. The kdeplasmoids package removes extragear but that should be okay because I think it replaces it.
