Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace
The new printer configuration module of KDE 4.4.2 is extremely bad. I couldn't manage to configure any of my network printers, I couldn't manage to delete the printers I tried to set up, I couldn't set up A4 as the default paper size and I couldn't manage to print. I could live with the extreme reduction of features for the sake of simplicity and ease of use but the parts that remain do not work.
On the other hand, I was able to do all the above by using the CUPS webadmin interface.
I can reproduce all the errors above anytime I want but I feel that it is pointless to bother with detailed bug reports. These bugs won't get fixed (at most, there will be a complete rewrite in a couple of releases, bringing a different set of bugs). I understand there is little any kubuntu or kde4 developers can do, limited time, limited resources, etc. However, I feel Kubuntu has changed from a stable and modern KDE distribution where things worked out-of-the-box, to an experimental playfield to test new half-baked ideas. Kubuntu Lucid does not feel like a LTS distribution, sorry.
