Bug Description

Binary package hint: jovie

The package "kttsdmgr" has been renamed "jovie" as of KDE 4.5.

Although jovie is packaged in the Ubuntu repository in Ubuntu 10.10, after installation , no launcher is provided in the GNOME menu (normally I'd expect it under Applications > Universal Access).

summary: - Jovie Won't Start and isn't in the GNOME menu
+ Jovie Has No Launcher in the GNOME menu After Installation

It may be noteworthy to mention that my current installation is an upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10.

In 10.04, I was using kttdsmgr. The upgrade automatically installed Jovie (I think), but there is no launch icon for Jovie, where the kttsmgr icon use to appear.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

We need to a launcher for "jovie".

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

Hint: take a look at the gnome-menus package and at its (nonsense) blacklist file /etc/gnome/menus.blacklist.

Pino, maybe the Debian GNOME maintainers go a bit too far by blacklisting KDE apps but the KDE maintainers have show no interest in correctly using the NotShowIn=GNOME; values for basic apps like Calculator, System Monitor, etc.

Anyway Ubuntu currently disables that blacklist so I'm going to go ahead and close this bug since it's not a gnome-menus issue in Ubuntu.
