Bug Description

Hi,

I am using Kubuntu and I have a slight problem which is related to compositing.
Each time I login to Kubuntu I have to go to System Settings - > Desktop Effects and click on a button called "Resume Compositing".

Another problem is there is a strange text that says "Compositing is not supported on your system." why it is not supported? I have ATI RADEON HD 3470 and I have installed the hardware using "Hardware Drivers"

Also another problem is that in the tab "All Effects" I can not find any thing just an empty list.

Thanks,
Mohammad

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in plasma-desktop.

In addition, can you give us more information? You can help us fix this bug by adding Apport debug information via the command "apport-collect 601036" (without the quotes). Until then, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

Can you try the free radeon driver and see if the problem is still present? (assuming 3D is enabled on radeon HD cards)

I get this same issue with Maverick using Intel on the desktop/laptop/netbook, and NVIDIA (both free and proprietary) on the notebook.
