can't resize maximised windows / kubuntu

Bug Description

It appears that from kde 4.11.3 / kde 13.10 that maximised windows in KDE cannot be resized by dragging the borders - this has been possible in all previous versions of KDE and is very useful.

I've seen this thread https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324011 and while I don't fully understand it, it look like the blame is being placed at the foot of the oxygen theme which should but doesn't support borders.

There is a patch against this but it looks like the kde developers are refusing to import this into 4.11.x and are only willing to let it in kde 5.

Could kubuntu accept this patch please? this is an incredibly annoying problem - enough so that we have several machines that will stay at 13.04 until this is fixed! (btw anyone know an easy way to revert a distro upgrade to reverse this one the test machine we put to 13.10?).

Ta!

@jr: I subscribed you so you could pick out the correct package (I couldn't figure it out, but I'm not much of a KDE user) and possibly comment on feasibility of the patch.

Because I want the window a different size and find resizing fast and more
natural then un maximusing and resizing and then dragging...

Kubuntu does not patch software that upstream refuses to patch.

AFAIK this fix is accepted upstream

If it was accepted upstream it will land in whatever version upstream sees it fit to land in. If upstream does not think it should land in 4.11 then we have no right saying otherwise.

Maybe, but that does not mean it is unreasonable to ask for the patch to be backported to the version where the bug was introduced so that an entire major release is free from the bug?

Of course not. My point is that the bug is invalid for us because we follow upstream's lead on stuff like this, so considering upstream considers 4.11 feature frozen we won't override their decision on this. If it was applied to 4.11 git one could consider a backport to the packaging of 4.11 but as it stands the fix is only in master.
