Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings

two hp printers categories named respectively 'hp' and 'hewlett packard' show up in the printer setup wizrd in kde's system settings, showing partial drivers listing and leading to consider hp printers as unsupported. see attached screen captures.

this is in kubuntu dapper 6.06.1 lts fully updated.

this is an important problem that needs addressing, as hp printers are common in business environments and this could lead to unnecessary support problems.

Yes this can be closed. Actually this wasn't related to System Settings as this problem was also available in other print managers with hplip configuration. the Hewlett Packard one was always empty and within the past 6 or more months this has been fixed.

This bug is still present on fully updated 6.06.2 releases.

I am attaching a custom package that installs cleanly on an updated 6.06.2 release, as the target package hasn't had any updated since the time this was first reported.

Forgot to mention the package I just uploaded was not included in 6.06.2 nor has it been proposed for any possible future inclusion in 6.06.x releases.

This is provided for reference / testing purposes only, although I personally reproduced the problem and fixed it with this package.
