I think this bug is in KDE itself. language-selector is only called when you click the 'Install new language', 'Uninstall language' or the system settings buttons... i.e. the three butttons below.

I don't think so, Arne. There is no such a problem on Chakra/Arch.

1. What is "Chakra/Arch"?
2. if you are so sure that language-selector is to blame, then please
show me the buggy code and I'll fix it for you. :)

language-selector only installs the language-packs, but does not add any
entries into the 'Add Language' combobox. I don't know how that list
gets generated, but certainly not by language-selector.

That interface is not language-selector itself. Indeed what is the problem is that probably the patch we apply to KDE's locale configuration module in order to add language-selector is a bit of the buggy kind.

Turns out this is in fact duplication of entry.desktop, but caused by our very own kde-l10n packages. Solution is to drop those files from the kde-l10n packages since they are duplications of the langpacks anyway + mangled by ubuntu's pkgbinarymangler.

Changed in language-selector (Ubuntu):

affects: kdebase-runtime (Ubuntu) → kde-l10n-ca-valencia (Ubuntu)
