kde 3.4.2 lang fr cannot be set

Since 3.4.2 I cannot set French in Country & Language setting on kcontrol.

Europe -> French is listed but adding french language does not add it on the list. The only language on the
list is english and cannot be suppressed nor changed !

I attached a screenshot of kcontrol showing what I want to do ie add french.
I tried with a fresh kde user with same bad result.

region and language selection for french

french will not be added after selection

i see the same problem with "de"
language also cant be exportet with KDE_LANG

force installing hoarys kde-i18n package makes it work again...

This is because of the transition to having Ubuntu KDE language packs (and gnome and common).
These have yet to be uploaded. Also needed is the entry.desktop, flat and charset files to be in
the Ubuntu KDE language packs.

KDE langpacks are in the archive and ship desktio files, flags, etc.
