Bug Description

When I lock the screen, I cannot unlock it anymore as the unlock dialog does not accept my password. I have to kill kdm to get out of it, so it's quite annoying as I have the habit of locking the screen when I leave the computer.

I also tried creating an another user and it has the same problem.

I changed my lastname in the System settings -> User from 'Jääskeläinen' to 'Jaaskelainen' due to messed up scandinavian letters in the splash screen welcome text. After that the unlock stopped working. It might be totally unrelated to that and actually due to some update as I've updated the packages quite regularly, about
every day.

You may also privmsg me at irc (visit0r) if you want me to look something up for helping debugging this out.

Yes, the workaround at bug 26175 (chmod 4755 /usr/bin/kcheckpass) solves the problem for me. Thanks.

I can confirm this. I worked around it by logging into a console and killing kdesktop-lock or something like that, if I recall correctly.

This is a rather annoying one, the bug got back after upgradingpackages, I had to chmod 4755... again.

The right workaround is listed in bug 26175 (sudo chgrp shadow /etc/shadow)
