I've been having the same problem; my system just randomly freezes, and, when I restart X, I get this error.

I've uploaded a patch that may work around this to my PPA:


Once it's built, if you are running Hardy, please install and test. You'll probably have to trigger displayconfig-restore manually in a Konsole window.
