Hi,

The problem is that kdbg < 2.2.2 does not play well with gdb 7.1 (I am guessing from your output that you were running that version of gdb) From the kdbg mailing list (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=201006092216.01105.j6t%40kdbg.org):

KDbg Release Notes for version 2.2.2
====================================

The 2.2.x series is still based on Qt 3 and KDE 3.

Changes since 2.2.1
-------------------

There is only one bug fix:

- An error message was shown instead of assembler code when gdb 7.1 was used.

I was having the exact trouble you described, so I upgraded to kdbg 2.2.2, and the problem was resolved.
