Bug Description

Clicking "Record Region" doesn't do anything.

This used to work in an earlier version but I'm not sure where the DEBs have gone.

Hi, thanks for the report. It seems that you're not using Unity for your shell. Are you running a compositing window manager? Compiz?

If you're not running a compositing window manager, then this is a known issue and it was partially resolved in the unstable releases.

I'm not using any compositing window manager.

I guess we'll just wait for the next stable release then.

Same problem with kazam 1.4.1, clicking on Area do nothing if ubuntu language interface is Romanian. When change back to English clicking on Area work.

I have the same problem:

Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10
kazam 1.0.6 'NCC-2893'

I'm using Gnome Classic (No effects) as my window manager. Seems to work on the 12.10 machine (haven't tried the 12.04 one) when I log in with Unity though.

I've got the same problem. I can only record on Fullscreen mode.

Kazam - "NCC-2000" 1.4.2-0ubuntu1
Ubuntu 12.10 (with Unity)

Changing the language interface from Spanish to English solves the problem as #4 said.

I can confirm this with languages other than English as well. I'm not sure if it is related, but there is an issue with at least the Spanish translation:

$ LANG=es_US.utf8 kazam

(kazam:1486): LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB-WARNING **: Translation has an invalid value 'I-->D' for default text direction. Defaulting to left-to-right.

If you have language problems, then you are probably missing appropriate locales or your LANG variable is wrong.

Andrew, can you try this:

$ LANG=es_US.UTF-8 kazam

If it still produces the same error, then try generating locale for your language:

$ sudo locale-gen es_US.UTF-8

However, in Kens bug report locale en_GB.UTF-8 is used, so this might be two different bugs.

It IS two different bugs so please stop spamming this bug report!

Report a new bug about the locales problem if David's solution does not work, and do not update this bug with any more details on locales as it is not relevant.

This bug is still apparent.

If it does indeed work in 12.10 then I don't see how. It is apparently the same package.

Maybe the solution lay in a different package. A WM update?

This bug now refers to an old and unsupported version of Kazam. If you're still having problems with the newer releases please submit another bug report with debug information attached.

Thanks!
