Saving Streams using Kaffeine causes crash

I am using the latest beta of edgy 6.10 32bit and have Kaffeine and the firefox plugin installed. I can play video clips and sound perfectly (For example from www.bbc.co.uk/news).

When I right click and choose 'save stream' the file selector box is shown and I select where to save the file. Upon clicking 'save' I get two xine errors:

Requested resource does not exist (mms://wm.bbc.co.uk/news/media/avdb/news_web/video/9012da6800534e0/bb/09012da680053561_16x9_bb.wmv#save:/09012da680053561_16x9_bb.wmv)

and:

Security Warning:
Security message: The specified save_dir might be a security risk.

I have tried this as well on the Apple movie trailers site and get the same errors.

I have also installed Konqueror, and again it plays perfectly, but this time Konqueror crashes out as soon as you hit 'save stream'. By the way why is there no imbedded player for firefox from Kaffeine?

does this still exist in gutsy? I know some work has been done in this area.

It even causes a crash on SuSE Linux 10.2 i386 with the most recent kaffeine rpm up to date: 0.8.4.
it runs with xine.
My problem is hardly the same, it's just the german version.
I couldn't fix it jet, but if can, i'll post it.

Exactly the same problem here using latest version of kaffeine from repository (0.85) and Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, freshly installed. It seems as there is an error in processing the path, the error messages shows squares instead of letters in the path name and error says that path is wrong (path is actually right) -> see blow or if squares aren't visible in attachet image.

I've experiened the same issue with Hardy (freshly installed), Feisty and Hardy (upgraded from Feisty)
Has anybody ever been able to open the network stream with a programme that istn't Kaffeine?
With every other player it is simply impossible to open the stream (I've tried vlc, Winamp, Windows Media Player)
If I open the stream and the port via Firefox (192.168.1.4:2312) then i receive a file which increases continuously, but it has seemed impossible for me so far to open this file with any player.
All necessary plugins for media streams are installed, it works with kaffeine very fine but simply with no other player.
I've been trying to solve this problem for many month now and I 've simply found no solution @ all!
