Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

I'm using Ubuntu Lucid Beta 10.04 on x86_64.

I used Ubuntu Software Centre to install kaffeine - it installed ok but when I actually go to use Kaffeine program and set all the DVB channels set up and select a channel to watch, it came up with the error of "cannot find demux plugin .....MRL:kaffeine path etc"

The "Cannot find demux plugin" has been reported but I think it is related to kaffeine not installed correctly through the ubuntu software centre.

I uninstalled kaffeine from the ubuntu software centre and installed it via Ubuntu community of Kaffeine, here ....https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kaffeine. It worked!

So hence I think there is something missing from Ubuntu software centre when installing Kaffeine - please correct it asap.

Hi Elly. Thanks for your bug report. Software-center installs kaffeine in the same way as the command described in the linked wiki page does. The kaffeine package itself provides a list of other packages that need to be installed at the same time and software-center just follows that list. The difference with the command in the wiki is that the command in the wiki also installs the 'libxine1-all-plugins' package. This is not currently in the list of packages that kaffeine depends on. I will mark this bug as effecting the kaffeine package, and hopefully someone there can decide whether the 'libxine1-all-plugins' package should be added to the list of dependencies. Please continue to report any bugs you find in software-center. Thanks.

affects: software-center (Ubuntu) → kaffeine (Ubuntu)

SicilyBoy, just go to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kaffeine and you'll be able to install it without any problems. But make sure you remove it from the Ubuntu Software Centre by clicking on "Remove" button and then go to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kaffeine and follow the step by step guide and copy and paste the commands into the terminal and it should work, it did for me!

I can confirm that installing libxine1-all-plugins fixes the problem.
