Kaffeine neither plays video nor gives warning nor error

Binary package hint: kaffeine

Kaffeine loads but does not play the documentary "Code Rush":

The screen stays blank though the progress slider advances and no sound comes either.

VLC plays it.

I would expect that Kaffeine plays MPEG and that any file it cannot play it would give a warning or error identifying the problem.

since kaffeine 1.0 uses phonon this is not a kaffeine bug.

Check your phonon settings that the phonon-xine backend is used and the necessary xine plugins are installed. (libxine1-all-plugins). Else, consider reporting this as a bug against phonon.

I have same problem in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS / Kaffeine version 1.0-svn3, it seems that this is very common problem in Ubuntu forum Finland, they tells that Kaffeine 0.8.7-1 is latest version which works.

Kaffeine (1.0-svn3) is not able either to view received DVB-T program(s) or play any recorded programs in any format (m2t, mp4).

It seems that backend engine works correct since Kaffeine is able to record DVB-T programs into file (in transportation format m2t), but not able to play it all!

Recorded transportation stream seems to be correct, since VLC and other players are able to show that all. That confirms that this is real Kaffeine based problem.
