kabikaboo no longer opens

kabikaboo does not open.
It used to work fine. It stopped working about a month ago.

I uninstalled and re-installed kabikaboo using synaptic, being careful to do a complete removal. Then I re-installed and try to run it. This is what I got.

I should add that removing the configuration folder .kabikaboo makes the program able to be re-opened, so the problem may be that it cannot recover from an improper shutdown.
