Bug Description

Binary package hint: k3b

Burner: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4522B

CD copy fails every time i try to copy a cd with this combo drive, error is: "Unable to eject media" after copying the cd to an image.

Program should ask to manually replace the cd if this kind of error happens?

Ejecting CD worked with Linpus Linux but not with Ubuntu 6.06 64-bit.

More info:

Computer used: Acer Power M6 (Linpus Linux preinstalled)

Distro's used: Linpus Linux 9.2 (has K3b preinstalled) and Ubuntu Linux 6.06.1 64-bit AMD with all auto-patches and K3b installed right after install and patches.

CD i tried to copy: ubuntu-6.06.1-desktop-amd64.iso successfully burned with Linpus Linux's K3b

Also tried rebooting and trying again, no success.

To whom it may concern,

I run Ubuntu 6.06 LTS. I use K3b copying software. When copying a DVD I get the error message "Unable to eject media" just before the new blank DVD disk should be inserted. Therefore, the copy fails.

I booted up with KDE and ran the same job, no problems.

Any suggestions how I shopuld solve this problem cause I'm out of ideas.

Yes, I have same problem on Ubuntu 6.10 witn copying CD/DVD !! And my friends have same problem too !

I have the same problem with kubuntu edgy, impossible to copy a dvd/cd . To do it you have to manually click on the dvd on the desktop with the right click and tell kde to unmount the disk, then it works, but this not really user friendly, k3b should be able to somehow force the unmount.

How about trying to put an entry in the fstab file for the DVD drive?

Problem still occurs with an entry in fstab. CD and DVD copy fails every time - very, very annoying. K3B has started to suck on Kubuntu.

Do you still have this problem in feisty/gutsy?

Skeletonix (tomaskloucek) wrote :

with last version of K3B everything works fine !

I can confirm that this is fixed in Gutsy (24-06-2007). I just successfully copied a Kubuntu Feisty ISO image without any hitches. Therefore I'm assuming this can be set as fix released, if this is wrong please change it back.

thanks,
Rich
