Henrique, thank you for reporting this bug to ubuntu. Could you help us track down this bug by following these steps?

1. Can you unmount the disk by going to Places -> Computer, right-clicking on the CD-ROM unmounting it and trying again?
2. If this doesn't work could you reboot and see if the issue is reproducible?

The message you are seeing means that the disk is in use by some process and tracking down what is locking it will help us determine if there is a bug.

Changed in k3b (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Good day,

1. When I right-click on the cd-rom it only has the alternatives: open,
copy, rename, copy to, copy disk, blank disk, check disk, eject and
properties. It doesn't have unmount.

2. It's give the same thing.

Thank you, Henrique

I have encounter this same problem since installing Lucid and K3B.

Today I tried to duplicate the bug prior to reporting here and managed to erase one CD-RW without any problems. In trying to erase a second and sebsequent CD-RW K3B produced the following errors: "1. Probably a buffer underrun occurred, 2. please choose a lower burning speed, 3. Blanking error, 4. Sorry no error handling yet."

The speed choices for blanking are only "auto". All further attempts to blank a number of different CD-RWs encountered the same error or other errors such as:

As reported above Brassero was able to erase the CD-RW without any problems. Brassero can also be used to record a data CD, but is very slow compared to K3B.

I have now confirmed this bug on two desktop machines with two different hardware sets. One of these has an older generic CD-R/CD-RW writer while the other has a modern ATAPI DVD A DH16A6L-C combination CD/DVD writer.

I got exactly the same issue with a Dell e6500 laptop. K3b and HAL are installed in Lucid environment (not KUBUNTU).

It cannot erase CD-RW with an error message like "unable to unmount medium".

After I manually umount the /dev/sr0 through command line, I can erase it without problem.

Right click menu cannot help here, since it will eject the CD out of the CDROM drive.

Changed in k3b (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Confirmed

This issue appears to have coincided with the removal of "unmount" from the nautilus right-click menu. Could they be related?
