Bug Description

Binary package hint: k3b

Hi,

I have the latest Dapper and since upgrading from Breezy K3B has stopped recognising my external Yamaha cdburner. I execute K3B, the lights blink on the front of the cdburner and K3B doesn't launch until I turn the cdburner off. I get the same results with Arson. I'm able to mount the drive (/dev/sr0) and cdrecord -scanbus reports:

        0,0,0 0) 'SEAGATE ' 'ST34371W ' '0360' Disk
        0,1,0 1) 'YAMAHA ' 'CRW4260 ' '1.0q' Removable CD-ROM

Here is a portion of the output from dmesg:

Upon further investigation I am able to use cdrecord to burn discs from the console.

for I in *.mp3
do
    mpg123 --cdr - "$I" | cdrecord -audio -pad -nofix -
done
cdrecord -fix

Seemed to work OK. No change with K3B.

Ran vanilla ubuntu live cdrom, cdburner was correctly detected by Serpentine. Ran vanilla kubuntu live cdrom, K3B still fails to launch while cdburner is powered up. cdrecord works fine with both live cdroms.

Latest update of K3B (0.12.17) (along with kernel 2.6.15-27) seems to have resolved the issue.
