Recording cd and dvd very slow in ubuntu 8.10

Bug Description

Put the speed of recording example 8x in dvd-rom with ubuntu 8.10 only leaves me record to 1X 2x instead of normal speeds of 4 to 16 x wait Always 30 minutes to 40 minutes in recording the data

What kind of burning software are you using? Have you tried other burning software than the default Brasero burning application?
