Bug Description

With recent k3b, when trying to rip an audio CD, you find in the Tools menu an entry named "rip audio cd...". However, that entry is just equivalent to selecting the CDROM medium in the left pane.
If the CDROM medium is already selected, the menu entry does nothing at all, which is rather confusing.

Using K3B 2.0.2 on debian Jessie (I'm up to date as of today).

1/ I insert an audio CD, it is properly recognized by K3B
2/ I click on Tools -> Rip Audio CD
3/ Nothing happens !!!

 Now If i do :

2/ Click on Start Ripping (top left on the audio tracks part of the main screen)
3/ The audio cd rip dialog appears (which si what I expected).

So If I understand correctly, when I insert a audio CD, K3B sets iteself on the audio CD ripping directly. Somehow I didn't see the "Start audio ripping" button. What is misleading is that Tools -> Rip audio CD didn't do anything. I'd expected it to show me the rip audio cd dialog...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1/ I insert an audio CD, it is properly recognized by K3B
2/ I click on Tools -> Rip Audio CD
3/ Nothing happens !!!

Actual Results:
3/ Nothing happens !!!

Expected Results:
3/ The audio cd rip dialog appears (which si what I expected).

Ack on fresh install and up to date Kubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Two years later.

Almost as bad as Kmail not being able to make IMAP folders. Still. After the same time. At least that one had some acks, so adding mine here for this bug in the vein hope any one at KDE cares and has the time.

Maybe they are all busy redesigning the icons again ?

Tested: might have improved, still suboptimal IMHO, but rather minor.

When you select Tools → rip audio cd, the right top panel is turned into a panel specialized for audio cd ripping. If you have that panel already, Tools → rip audio cd, does nothing, since the panel is already there. However, the presence of the menu entry may induce to think that it should do something.

For apps organized in panels, when there is a menu controlling the appearance of some panels, it is probably common to produce a tick on the side of the entries that are visible.

My advice is to rename the menu entry (and the similar ones) and add the tick. Rather than having

Tools → rip audio cd

have

Tools → [ ] rip audio cd panel or Tools → [o] rip audio cd panel

depending on whether the panel is already shown or not.

But, as already mentioned, this is really minor.
