Ok. I have downloaded the latest K3b source code, and installed the ubuntu
supplied needed development libraries and compiled it and run it. This crashes
also! Output is:-

yes, bug still exists. some additional info. The PC is a Dell Inspiron 8100. k3b crashes if the laptop was booted with the
CD-writer hardware installed. k3b does not crash if the laptop was booted with the CD-writer absent - although if the
CD-writer is added while the system is running, the system does not seem to detect its presence either - and so it cannot
be used. All in all, I am currently unable to use k3b with my CD-writer.

Not sure if this is helpful output. Please let me know what other information I
should provide.

Does this bug still exist with the latest version of k3b for your distribution?

If so, cna you tell me what version of k3b you're using and provide hardware info.

Daniel Robitaille (robitaille) wrote :

Do you still experience this bug with k3b in a more recent version of Ubuntu than Hoary? (if it is possible for you to test this)

Vassilis Pandis (pandisv) wrote :

Your bug lacks information we would need to investigate further. We are now
going to close the bug - please reopen if you have more information at hand.

Changed in k3b:
status: Needs Info → Rejected

Hi, I have the same problem.
My hardware is:

AMD 9950
4Gb Supertalent DDR2 RAM
Asus M3N78-VM motherboard
HD Maxtor 160 GB Ide
DVD RW LG GH20NS15 SATA

I have instaled Ubuntu Intrepid 64bits, also the same problem still if I boot with Intrepid 32bits.

If someone know how to solve it, please tell me.

thanks..
