I also have this problem with the release candidate. The only syslog output is the following:
Oct 1 13:43:53 ubuntu kernel: [ 293.274243] b43-pci-bridge 0000:03:00.0: PCI INT A disabled

This is a show stopper for me. I am not using Maverick if I can't have wireless. I heard Broadcom released an open source driver. That can't be used instead?

Happens for me too, I can not enable the NVidia proprietary driver. Shouldn't this have a higher priority? Users want to use their proprietary drivers, as long as wireless does not work without them, and effects can not be enabled, and unity can not be used. The priority should be raised, although it's a bit too late for the fix to be completed and included in the final release. Sad.

The same message appears in jockey-text too, I had to install the drivers using synaptic.
