Bug Description

When starting Jockey in KDE, the initial prompt for privilege escalation is generated from kdesudo, not via Policy Kit. Later, when Policy Kit takes over, the user gets asked for a password again. This is not very smooth and presents a worse user experience than Karmic.

Confirmed; after updating to the version in lucid-proposed it no longer shows a kdesudo popup on start. I don't have any hardware in need of proprietary drivers so can't test that thoroughly if it works as expected, but it at least starts fine.

This bug was fixed in the package jockey - 0.5.8-0ubuntu8.1

---------------
jockey (0.5.8-0ubuntu8.1) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * Remove the X-KDE-SubstitueUID key from jockey-kde.desktop.in. It is no
longer needed since Jockey now has PolicyKit support, and poses a less
than desirable situation where the whole frontend is run as root.
