Jockey can't fetch STA drivers for Broadcom

1. What I expected to happen

When I click on the hardware driver to activate it, Ubuntu installs the appropriate driver so I can use my wireless card. An internet connection should not be necessary, since the driver is what I need to get an internet connection.

2. What actually happened

When I clicked on the hardware driver to activate it, Ubuntu tells me "Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/p/patch/patch_2.6-2_i386.deb Could not resolve 'archive.ubuntu.com'"

The driver does not install.

3. The minimal series of steps necessary to make it happen, where step 1 is "start the program"

Boot up the Ubuntu Lucid Alpha 3 CD on an HP Mini 1120nr (or other computer with a Broadcom 4312 wireless card).
Click on System > Administration > Hardware Drivers
Click STA driver
Click Activate

An internet connection should not be necessary, since the driver is what I need to get an internet connection. If I need to connect the installation USB or CD, Ubuntu should prompt me for it and then fetch the drivers off there without me having to manually locate the .deb files.

When I click on System > Administration > Additional Drivers, Ubuntu tells me "Downloading package indexes failed, please check your network status. Most drivers will not be available.'"

The driver does not install, obviously.

Boot up the Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) on an HP Mini 1120nr (or other computer with a Broadcom 4312 wireless card).
Click on System > Administration > Additional Drivers

This is also a problem on the Dell Mini 9 netbook. For myself, I solved it by replacing it with an Intel 3645 a/b/g wifi card & have no driver problems.
