Bug Description

I'm trying to enable my Broadcome wireless device driver from jockey but it doesn't work. It works on the live CD, but not after installation.
I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.

I have the same issue on Karmic Beta 64bit on a Macbook Pro 5.3.

It works on the live CD but won't get enabled once installed.

A later upgrade fixed this issue for me.

This just became a problem after updating ubuntu Karmic to the latest version yesterday...

Please note that you need to be online in order to enable the Broadcom STA driver.

Also, since Karmic is still in development, please make sure you've updated to the latest packages before running Hardware Drivers.ou

Scott & Vince, if you could please re-test, that'd be appreciated.

My previous comment should have stated that if you're running installed Netbook-Remix via a USB key, then you need to be online before you run Hardware Drivers.

I am having this problem with a Dell XPS 1530. When I click Activate for the "Broadcom STA Wireless" driver it shows the "Downloading and installing" dialog for about 30 seconds, and then it disappears, but the driver is not enabled

I ran "modprobe wl" and it complained about a bad line in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-bcm43.conf. The contents of this file appear to be corrupted and are as follows...

ld.so-1.7.0 Š = = /= 9= H= T= e= u= Š= —= = º= Ð= â= ý=

Have the same here on an HP Tablet tx2500.

am on 64bit ubuntu 9.10, fresh install from CD, did activate Broadcom B43 wireless driver before but that didn't bring up any wireless connection, i still had to connect to my LAN cable, so I tried to activate Broadcom STA wireless driver next but that crashed my system completely when trying to Activate via Hardware Drivers. Only the caps lock LED kept blinking, everything else was frozen up.

modprobe wl shows:
joachim@idefix:~$ modprobe wl
WARNING: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-bcm43.conf line 1: ignoring bad line starting with 'ld.so-1.7.0'

Do you still have this issue?
Have you tried to reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source?
