Same problem, same package versions.

Marking Triaged, Importance High - since it makes jockey-kde not start at all.

I only pressed Hardware Drivers and I got the same crash.

Same thing here

Just booted into Kubuntu 64 bit Kernel 2.6.27-3. This problem occurred as the KDE window was connecting to wireless (using BCM4306 and gnome-network manager) and before any manual applications were started.

i'm using kubuntu intrepid 32-bit, and getting a crash when running hardware drivers, or entering jockey-kde in konsole.

Yet another "me too!"

Only started within the last week or so.

I can confirm this with kubuntu-intrepid alpha 6, amd64.

I shot down kubutnu-intrepid alpha 6, an it whows me this error.

Waleed Hamra (w-hamra1987) wrote :

after reading through , i tried installing python-kde4-dev , and the doing a chmod +x to pykdeuic4 , jockey-kde is working again. so the problem in short is that python-kde4-dev needs to be fixed so it installs the file as executable, and jockey-kde dependencies changed to include this package?

w.hamra1987: a new package will be uploaded soon and it won't require any additional dependency. It should just work.

This bug was fixed in the package jockey - 0.5~alpha1-0ubuntu3

jockey (0.5~alpha1-0ubuntu3) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Merge some bug fixes from trunk:
    - Fix search_drivers() to not return unrelated available handlers.
    - Change --search-driver UIs from confirmation dialog to displaying list
of matches. (One half of LP: #269454)
    - OpenPrintingDriverDB: Show shortdescription and functionality fields.
      (Other half of LP: #269454)
    - Drop a lot of redundant probing from add_driverdb() and search_driver().
    - Build KDE .ui -> python on build time, to avoid runtime uic dependency.
      (LP: #271317)
    - nvidia, fglrx handlers: Remove RgbPath option, it causes to crash.
    - Update action button strings according to latest recommendations
      from Matthew Thomas, thanks!
    - Properly intercept failure to connect to D-BUS. (LP: #258472)
  * Add python-kde4-dev build dependency, now needed to get pykde4uic.
  * fglrx, nvidia: Uninstall -kernel-source in disable(), thanks Alberto.
    (LP: #251962)
  * jockey/, install_package(): Intercept SystemError. (LP: #258713,
    LP: #272146)
