"Hardware drivers" doesn't suggest installing firmware for bcm43xx

Bug Description

"Restricted Drivers Manager" aka "Hardware Drivers" in Ubuntu Hardy doesn't suggest installing firmware for bcm43xx cards. It says "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system".
As a consequence, I cannot connect to any wireless network since proper firmware doesn't exist on system.

In Ubuntu Gutsy, the card was correctly detected and installing missing firmware was hassle-free. Now, I have to use bcm43xx-cutter manually to configure my wireless card.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

 * Are you using jockey-gtk or jockey-kde?
 * Is the broadcom card shown in the main window of jockey?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Hi!

Thanks for your respone. Sorry for the previous title -- I was checking if the bug had been already reported and I forgot to change it.

I was using jockey-gtk. The card is not shown -- there is only a "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system" caption.

Can you please do

  jockey-gtk --list --debug 2>&1 | tee /tmp/jockey.log

in a Terminal window and attach /tmp/jockey.log here?

Changed in jockey:
status: New → Incomplete

Please note that nowadays we are using the b43 module and b43-fwcutter. Maybe you have a card which only works with the old bcm43xx, and not with the newer b43?

Hello, I'm having the same problem. Fresh install of Ubuntu Hardy Heron beta on Dell Inspiron 6400. No proprietary drivers listed under System>Admin>Harware Drivers. Need for Broadcom b43 module (or bcm43xx) wireless to work. I will attach my jockey.log

Hi,

I also don't have my b43 listed in Hardware Drivers in Hardy (64 bit). I am running a HP (laptop) Compaq 6715b, with Broadcom b43 (4312).

I have run through the firmware install (as mentioned here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter/+bug/197819) and can confirm that the firmware installs ok. I'm using Jockey-GTK.

I have attached my jockey.log...

Thanks.
