Bug Description

Kubuntu hardy a3 64bit when restricted drivers are enabled it insists on using nvidia-glx when my nvidia 7600gs requires nvidia-glx-new . if I uninstall nvidia-glx using adept or synaptic or from terminal and install nvidia-glx-new enabling restricted drivers UNINSTALLS nvidia-glx-new and installs nvidia-glx again. this can be overriden by after enabling restricted drivers but before reboot uninstalling nvidia-glx and installing nvidia-glx-new . possible additional info or possible different bug , if all things having to do with restricted drivers are purged the Nvidia propriatary driver module refuses to load , it compiles properly and the module is installed but will not load at boot . this does not happen with hardy -gnome a3 64 bit on the same box ( I have both installed on seperate drives)

Is this still a problem in Kubuntu 8.04.1? (Or better yet, in Intrepid?)

This is fixed in intrepid now, all matching driver version are shown, and the 'best' one is marked as "recommended".
