Bug Description

I was trying to install Nvidia-current drivers from "Additional drivers" in "System settings" but I keep on getting a message box saying: "Sorry the installation of this driver failed, Please have a look at the log file /var/log/jockey.log", see attached screenshot.
I was doing this using Ubuntu 12.10 kernel 3.5.0-14 on Ubuntu 12.04.

After rebooting I could not logon to my session just as reported in bug #1011828.
So on command line I ran "lsmod" and "dpkg --list *nvidia*" see two files attached.
It seems like nvida-current drivers are installed but not loaded at startup.
I ran dpkg -r nvidia-current* and when I rebooted I could logon to my session but I have nouveau drivers now.

it looks like nvidia-common is not installed which is why Jockey won't work with the nvidia driver.

After nvidia-graphics-drivers has been put into -proposed repository (http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/295.40-0ubuntu1.2 ) see bug #1011828, I tested the install and removal of both nvidia-current and nvidia-173 drivers on Precise Pangolin kernel 3.5.0-21 and had no problem so I can say the bug is fixed.
