Bug Description
I want to get sun java sdk 5 for my classes. I downloaded the linux self extracting file from the java.sun.com but when I installed it it gave errors. I tried downloading fakeroot and java-package from synaptic. I could not find it. I got it from packages.debian.org and tried installing it. A dependency problem was shown. I tried getting those files from synaptic but it too gives me errors about emacs, eelib and some others. I need this java sdk to be installed on my system. Kindly help me out. This is kind of urgency for me as I am student and my classes would be affected if I cant get the java running.

Hi!
I see you are trying to use the Debian repository from packages.debian.org instead of the Ubuntu Universe at archive.ubuntu.com to retrieve java-package. Please correct your Synaptic setting by pointing it to the Ubuntu universe repository (see https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/UniversePac kages ).
Furthermore, you can also request for help by using the technical support request tracker instead of filing a bug, so we can help you more readily. :)
Thanks, and I hope you can get java-package working soon!
