Bug Description

I have installed the jacksum utility for computing checksum hashes.

But the jacksum -h option is unable to work since it is not able to locate the file "help_en.txt"

I seem to remember it used to work on 12.04 and 15.04/10.

Kindly rebuild the package including the help_en.tx file which helps in find info on using a certain parameter faster.

Earlier I could query the jacksum utility on using some command line argument.

e.g.:
$ jacksum -h -a md5

Which would tell me about on using the -a option explicitly about the md5 hashing algorithm.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I get the same error message when attempting to run `jacksum -h` from jacksum 1.7.0-4.1 on Ubuntu Artful, so I'm marking this as confirmed.

It's great to add older releases where the package worked, so that it is easier to track down when the bug was introduced :) But I don't see which release you are currently running? Could you please run the following command (only once) in a terminal to add additional debugging information:
apport-collect 1701028

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

The 14.04 version of jacksum is working without any issues.

Thanks for providing the additional information.

I've also forwarded this to the Debian maintainer, see the attached bug watch.

If jacksum 1.7.0-2 on Ubuntu 14.04 it is likely the issue was introduced since then, which should help pin-point exactly what is causing it. Since the version in 14.04 works, I've removed the trusty tag (the tags represent which releases contains the issue)
