Bug Description
Binary package hint: istanbul
On a fresh install of Ubuntu, Xubuntu 6.10, the screencast flickers between the video and a black screen at the rate of about twice a minute. Video is unwatchable.
WORKAROUND:
Select the "Record 3D" option.

@Daengbo :
Did you try to activate the "Record 3D" option in the Istanbul menu ?
I had the same problem in ubuntu 6.10 (without compiz/beryl) and enabling "Record 3D" allowed me to record smooth screencast ...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

I'm running Gusty Tribe 5 now, but Istanbul won't run at all in this
version, so I can't make any comment about its status. Sorry.

I still have the same issue in Hardy Beta. Workaround is to choose to record 3D, which takes a full screenshot every frame.

Bug still present in Hardy release. Istanbul is useless for day-to-day screencasts. Sound issue still hasn't been fixed, either.
I can also confirm this issue for istanbul 0.2.2-2 on Ubuntu Hardy. Selecting "Record 3D" resolves the problem.

Indeed, the bug is still present in Intrepid Beta. And the workaround (Record 3D) doesn't work anymore.
Record 3D works for me. Does this mean you are recording flickering video even with Record 3D enabled? Thanks in advance.

Record 3D doesn't work in Jaunty as a work around. It records less than a second no matter the length of time that was attempted.
I also get flickering in jaunty 9.04. By the way, the flickering is twice per second, not per minute as said in the description, in my experience as well as in the initial attached example. The description should be fixed.
Using "Record 3D" solves it for me.

Hi, the problem persists and we are in 2014. With 3D record is ok, but without it the video flicker. =(
