Well, that one got set as a duplicate of this one. Please see also bug #1551415.

I did manage to avoid having to re-boot, via the Rob Whyte method "sudo dhclient eth0", however my leases file is now out of date, but I did observe a new lease actually being granted via capturing the packets on tcpdump.
