Bug Description
0.52+git20160118-1
Irssi cannot load the plugin. It says:
-!- Irssi: Error loading module xmpp/core: /usr/lib/
If I copy the *.so files to the named directory it says:
-!- Irssi: xmpp/core is ABI version 0 but Irssi is version 2, cannot load
So this package is completly useless :-(

This is not good, it means irssi-plugin-xmpp in Xenial is completely broken, due to a newer irssi, which
a) should have required a rebuild to fix the ABI mismatch, but unfortunately we haven't tied this down to properly versioned package dependencies yet
b) expects plugins in a different directory (which includes the multiarch triplet "x86_64-linux-gnu" in the path)
In Debian, this was tracked as #817171, and fixed by 0.52+git20160118-2
For Ubuntu Xenial, I've requested a sync (LP: 1579925), hopefully that's possible. I suppose that Yakkety is not affected.
