Bug Description

Binary package hint: ircd-ircu

Under Ubuntu 8.10, ircd-ircu (2.10.12.10.dfsg1-1) installs correctly but will not start (whether on reboot or via /etc/init.d/ircd-ircu start). No logs, no useful debugging information.

Downloaded and compiled 2.10.12.12 version and it works correctly with my config file.

Possible issue with config file format?

My prior server was running Debian. When I upgraded to Lenny, the new ircd-ircu package required the new ircd-ircu config file format. However, the config file would not work until I manually compiled and ran 2.10.12.12. Upon migrating the service to my new Ubuntu server, I had identical results.

Suggest having Ubuntu use 2.10.12.12. It runs reliably with no customization (PIII-1 GHz, dual CPUs, 1 GiB RAM, and previously on PII-333, 768 MiB RAM).

Can post censored config file if useful.

I found the same behaviourin ircd-ircu in 9.04 jaunty jackalope, here this was due to the fact, that the directory /var/run/ircd gets removed during reboot, resulting in the fact, that ircd cannot wirte its PID-file.

May be it's the same problem here

Same here. Still hurting me. Just rewrote my copy of ircd's init.d script to fix it. Not sure why it's happening though.
