$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10

$ apt-cache policy ipython
ipython:
  Installed: 0.9.1-3ubuntu2
  Candidate: 0.9.1-3ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 0.9.1-3ubuntu2 0
        500 http://il.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I encountered this after upgrading since my own app which is an enhanced ipython shell which uses wx and pylab started getting stuck, and I was looking for a simple test case. ipython -pylab isn't exactly a simple test case, but it's what I have right now, and it is reproducible.

I believe this bug is the same or related to

Also, i tested the 0.10 package available from debian and i no longer encounter this problem. One more reason to get 0.10 into Karmic i guess (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ipython/+bug/427526)
