Bug Description

Binary package hint: iptraf

With the growth in ipv6 traffic it becomes necessary to be able to 'see' this when viewing network traffic with programs such as iptraf. At the moment it is only shown as 'Non-IP traffic'.

I managed to build a working iptraf with ipv6 support using the patches
from the url below and one extra change

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=42508

which is for me a working solution but I don't know if ubuntu is willing to
use it.

that sounds good work, ubuntu just port whatever get admited to debian , so
you may want to submit to debian first.

I was hoping to get sometime to get this useful tool working as well.

iptraf-ng is showing the IPv6 traffic fine, so this would be a good
solution.

With the removal of iptraf from Debian unstable it's also been dropped from Zesty. Closing all iptraf bugs in Ubuntu as wontfix. As such, fixes in earlier releases are unlikely and it's best to move on to iptraf-ng.

It would be great to see if iptraf-ng is affected by this problem as well. If so, "also affects distribution/package" button to iptraf-ng to the list of affected packages in Ubuntu. Thank you for your testing.
