Hi Jan,

Is this bug reproducible, or was it a "one off"? It would be great if we could find a step-by-step way of reproducing the problem.

This is really a pango issue, so I'll reassign it.

The effect of the bug is the following:

1- Inkscape locks and then greys out. While locked, also locks system.
2- System looses panels, top and bottom, so metacity restarts itself without the CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE.
3- Once restarted metacity looses part of visual enhancements and also closes all opened apps.
4- System seems unstable afterwards and restarting the computer is the best option to gain stability again.

The bug appeared when trying to modify the font of a text in Inkscape by doing the following:

1- Type text in the window
2- Select all the text characters with the text tool
3- Try to change font face in the toolbar with the font dropdown menu (not by selecting the "T" button on the toolbar
