Bug Description

I use Kubuntu 12.04 and Inkscape 0.48.3.1 r9886. Whenever I try to print or save my work, inkscape keeps crashing. I tried to use gdb to find what goes wrong but what I got is this:

Starting program: /usr/bin/inkscape

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1".

A different possibly related report (closed for Inkscape because triggered by an issue of a gtk theme engine used under KDE):
Bug #1049179 “Inkscape crashes when "Save as" or "Save a copy..." is pressed”

Yes.

I tried what suggested in Bug #1049179 but no thing change. I even changed the gtk theme under KDE.

I used trunk version and Inkscape does not crash again.

@Fahad - In order to close the report properly, could you please tell us if you tested both Inkscape versions on the same operating system, and confirm it crashes with the official (0.48.3.1) package but not with the trunk version? Thanks.

@jazzynico Now i am using netrunner 13.10 (based on kubuntu 13.10) and Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939. I don't face this problem anymore.

What I suspect the cause of this problem is that I was using a new version of gime 2.8 and I installed a new version of libpoppler which differs form the official version that comes with 0.48.3.1. I don't remember well but when I downgraded libpoppler the problem was fixed.

@Fahad - Thanks for reporting back.
Since the issue was not due to Inkscape (or indirectly), I'm closing the report Invalid for the Inkscape project.

Changed in inkscape:
status: Incomplete → Invalid
