the program failed on boot up i restarted the program and it seems to be working.

Here it happens while doing a release upgrade from Lucid to Precise.
Now I don't know whether I can safely reboot the system or not.

Ok I just found out that this is caused by the /boot/ partition getting full. Looks like old kernel images are kept indefinitely, which eventually eats up all the space on the /boot/ partition. I removed very old kernels, and ran "apt-get -f install" which fixed the issue.

Removing old kernel works (linux-image and linux-headers packages). And i moade again : sudo apt-get upgrade.
