Bug Description

Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

During an upgrade from 10.04 LTS to 10.10 on AMD64, a popup dialog opened saying:

Could not install 'initramfs-tools'

The upgrade will continue but the initramfs-tools package may not be in a working state. Please consider submitting a bug report about it.

Could you please attach whatever logs you have available? /var/log/apt/term.log and /var/log/dpkg.log should be a decent start.

Thanks. This is the same as bug 603053 - unfortunately the failure is due to a third-party package which isn't shipped in Ubuntu so we can't fix it.

This seems to have been this bug: 603053 and this is apparently the fix to that issue (iscan complains about hooks and causes initramfs-tools to choke)... I have not tested this as I have other problems to worry about now, but putting the debian bug post here in case someone else needs it.
