Bug Description
I'm using latest mkinitramfs and linux-image from dapper :
ii initramfs-tools 0.40ubuntu8
ii linux-image-
I'm forced to add 'piix' module to /etc/mkinitramf
Otherwise, kernel couldn't find my 'system' VG (under LVM)

Can you try cleansing your config and running update-initramfs -u again with the latest kernel/ udev/initramfs- tools from dapper and tell me if this is still problematic for you?
Drive detection was spiffed up a fair bit a couple of days ago, and your problem should (hopefully) be solved.
