Bug Description

Create the INTEL RST RAID1 with two SATA SSD and install Ubuntu 22.04.3 Desktop(Jammy) on this RAID mapper (/dev/mapper/isw_cidhgcigcf_Volume1). The partition table is following:
Partition#1 Serial ATA RAID /dev/mapper/isw_cidhgcigcf_Volume1 (mirror) as ESP
Partition#2 Serial ATA RAID /dev/mapper/isw_cidhgcigcf_Volume1 (mirror) as ext4
After installing and reboot.
We can see the grub menu but can't boot into Ubuntu Desktop and only show prompt "initramfs"

Device:
CPU: i3-1215UE

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2031366/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

In Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop found the problem that we can't boot into Desktop and wait in the prompt "(initramfs)". But we don't encounter this problem in 20.04. It seems that OS can't find the raid device and /dev/mdX didn't exist.

affects: ubuntu → dmraid (Ubuntu)

Hi We did some test and found

We can install 20.04 FOCAL Desktop kernel 5.15.0-79 and reboot into the Desktop.
And try to upgrade to 22.04 with same kernel version but we can't boot into Desktop and stuck in the initrd
mode with prompt "(initramfs)".
It seems the difference is the raid tool something because the device mapper file /dev/dm-1 (EFI parttion) and /dev/dm-2 (root partition) doesn't exist. Is any way we can rollback the RAID tool in 22.04 to 20.04?

We found the workaround to get into Ubuntu 22.04 from (initramfs) console:
(initramfs) /sbin/kpartx -un /dev/mapper/isw_dadbjcgeac_Volume1
(initramfs) exit

It seems the DMRAID related tool difference between 20.04 and 22.04

affects: dmraid (Ubuntu) → initramfs-tools (Ubuntu)

Can you collect debug information why initramfs-tools ended up in that prompt? If you boot with the extra kernel parameter "debug" the initramfs-tools will write a log to /run/initramfs/initramfs.debug.

Hi,

Since there is no chance to get into the Destop (cannot detect RAID and mount rootfs), I recorded the console log from COM port.

Thanks,
