Bug Description

Tried do-release-upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04

Not sure what is going on but doing the following on another login screen indicates that the upgrade has occurred

cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS"

Hmm /boot is 100%

apt-get autoremove

failed again after /boot filled up again
manuall removed stuff Eg.
root@host1:/boot# rm initrd.img-3.2.0-75-generic initrd.img-3.2.0-77-generic initrd.img-3.2.0-80-generic initrd.img-3.2.0-83-generic initrd.img-3.2.0-95-generic

repeated apt-get autoremove which just re-creates the above and results in the following

gzip: stdout: No space left on device
E: mkinitramfs failure cpio 141 gzip 1
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-3.13.0-145-generic with 1.
dpkg: error processing package initramfs-tools (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already
                                                              Errors were encountered while processing:
 linux-image-extra-3.13.0-145-generic
 linux-image-generic
 linux-generic
 linux-image-server
 linux-server
 initramfs-tools
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Tried the following

apt-get update (also did that before the do-release-upgrade)
apt-get autoremove

and that worked

rebooting - wish me luck

rebooted

Bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1746326 does not look like a problem of the /boot filesystem out of space.
