Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

You've got a lot of segmentation violation errors in your logs from wildly unrelated programs. I suggest rebooting into memtest86+ and let that run overnight or longer. It feels like a hardware issue to me.

Thanks, and good luck.

The failing sed program was probably part of the initramfs-tools run. I am marking this bug as invalid for initramfs-tools. It is either a hardware problem or a bug in sed.

Changed in initramfs-tools (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → Invalid
